Theory of Change Outcomes

Real Data & Impact planning results in organizations and programs with clear expectations, equitable funding structures, and strong readiness for growth.

Many nonprofits operate with passion but without infrastructure. LWG bridges that gap through consulting, education, and advocacy, building measurable capacity, ethical labor practices, and sustainable outcomes.

Ethics & “The Myth of the Free Grant Writer”

At LWG, professional labor deserves professional pay. “The Myth of the Free Grant Writer” calls out harmful industry norms that undervalue development professionals. LWG advocates for readiness-first planning, ethical contracting, and fair compensation—because sustainability isn’t built on burnout.

Collaboration in Action

LWG works with Mission-aligned partners to drive equitable, sustainable change, and capture proven impact.
Our partnership with the Oregon Women’s Charity Association (OWCA) showcases this model. Together, we’re empowering women-led nonprofits through the Nonprofit Underground Assistance Program.

Accessible Advocacy

True accessibility in the nonprofit world means more than open doors; it means open systems.

Through the OWCA Nonprofit Underground Assistance Program, LWG works to make professional development and organizational training accessible to every leader, regardless of budget or background.

Our workshops, toolkits, and mentoring sessions give small and emerging organizations the same access to strategy and structure that larger nonprofits often take for granted. By combining readiness training with equity-driven design, we’re helping community leaders build confidence, competence, and capacity; all without gatekeeping.

Equity begins where access begins.

Redefining Nonprofit Success into partnerships, impact, and beyond survival mode.

Programs

Programs & Partnerships

The Nonprofit Underground exists to address the structural realities nonprofit leaders face but are rarely supported to navigate openly.

Our programs focus on governance, funding literacy, labor ethics, and organizational survivability, with an emphasis on clarity over hustle and sustainability over burnout.

Rather than offering one-off solutions, our work is designed to help nonprofit leaders, Boards, and practitioners understand how systems actually function, where risk and harm occur, and how to build capacity without replicating the very inequities they are trying to solve.

The Nonprofit Underground Assistance Program

The Nonprofit Underground Assistance Program is the core education and support framework behind our work. It provides accessible, plain-language tools, workshops, and guidance for nonprofit leaders and organizations who need structure, not speculation.

This program supports organizations at multiple stages by offering:

  • Governance and financial literacy education

  • Practical frameworks for grant readiness and funder engagement

  • Boundary-setting guidance around labor, compensation, and capacity

  • Educational resources designed for Boards as well as staff

The Assistance Program is intentionally flexible. Some organizations engage through self-paced education and workshops, others through facilitated learning or targeted consulting support. All engagement is grounded in ethical practice, realistic capacity, and long-term organizational health.

How Our Programs Work

Our programs are designed to be used independently or together, depending on organizational needs. Educational workshops, written resources, and consulting support are connected through a shared framework focused on survivability, accountability, and informed decision-making.

Whether you are seeking to better understand your organization’s financial signals, governance responsibilities, or funding landscape, our programs are built to support clarity, confidence, and sustainable growth.

The Nonprofit Underground is not about surviving; it’s about building systems that last.

The Nonprofit Underground Assistance Program exists to make high-quality nonprofit education, strategy, and capacity-building accessible to the organizations and leaders who need it most.

Built in response to widening gaps in funding access, leadership support, and institutional stability, the program offers collaborative pathways for nonprofits and founders navigating an increasingly fragile funding landscape.

In 2025, many organizations experienced the not-so-quiet collapse of traditional funding structures; fewer grants, higher competition, and systems that no longer reward good work alone.

The Assistance Program was designed for this reality. Through workshops, toolkits, assessments, and shared learning spaces, it supports nonprofits in strengthening readiness, governance, and sustainability without requiring insider access or unsustainable labor.
